About Our Founder – Dr. Shenae Whitehead, PhD, MA, LPC-S, RPT-S

Dr. Whitehead is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. Apart from that, she is a part of the adjunct faculty of Webster University’s graduate counseling program.

Through the years, she has gained extensive experience in providing individual and family therapy across multiple populations and age groups. Wanting to share her clinical/training expertise not only to her clients but also to graduate-level practicum and internship students, she opened her own practice.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Whitehead’s present clinical interests include forensics, sexually reactive behaviors, attachment therapy, and trauma. Because she is an army veteran and a wife to an army member, her research and career are heavily grounded in the military population.

Dr. Whitehead published a dissertation that examined various factors that support resilience in military marriages. Additionally, she conducted several presentations about her research and investigation on various stressors across all branches of the military. She even developed and launched a military stressor assessment tool.

Educational Background

Dr. Whitehead completed her PhD in clinical psychology at Fielding Graduate University. She earned her master's degree in professional counseling at Liberty University and her bachelor's degree in psychology at East Carolina University. To improve her skills and provide better services, she is currently pursuing her licensure to become a clinical psychologist.

  • to assist in the training of mental health professionals necessary to ensure adequate treatment of victims of sexual assault, especially military sexual assault victims, given their difficulty receiving non-military treatment
  • to develop social groups for teenage girls in order to help enhance their social skills, teach adequate coping skills, and assist with developing adequate life skills

About Us

The Stacy Jones Foundation was created in memory of Mrs. Stacy Jones, a Lupus survivor, who was diagnosed with lupus in 2001, and sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer in March 2018. Mrs. Jones was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey and she attended Seton Hall University, where she majored in Nursing. She had over twenty years of federal service with her last place of employment being at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. In her role as a Program Specialist, Mrs. Jones' hard work and dedication touched her co-workers, colleagues, and the many veterans whom she served. Although her life was cut short, it filled with love and a reaching spirit, as she was an active member of the Women's Auxillary of New Mission Baptist Church, where she often volunteered, and it was always in her nature to help and provide for others when she could. Therefore, in order to continue on in her helping and loving spirit, the Stacy Jones Foundation, Inc. was created to help enhance the community of Fayetteville and to commit to enhancing the research of both lupus and pancreatic cancer!
